Sri-Lankan Adventure

Sri-Lankan Adventure

,

Sri Lanka opens this Easter adventure with elephants, drumming villages and jungle safaris — walking alongside rescued elephants at the Millennium Foundation, painting a traditional drum in Kuragala, and spotting leopards on a jeep safari through Yala National Park. Every stop is built around discovery, movement, and things kids can actually touch and do.

Families ride tuk-tuks around Kandy's lake, take one of the world's most scenic train rides to Ella, cross the Nine Arches Bridge, and join a local school for Avurudu games and a cooking demonstration, before winding down at Hikkaduwa's Turtle Beach. Parents get the tea plantations, infinity pools and family-friendly hotels; kids get hands-on encounters at every turn.

Then it's on to the Maldives, where the pace slows right down. Three nights at a 5-star island resort bring a dedicated kids club, kayaks and snorkelling gear, and quiet time by the water — the perfect close to a trip built for family memories that last.

Day 1
Welcome to Sri Lanka

Touch down and transfer to Kurunegala for a Tuk Tuk ride around the lake and a family lunch with a dedicated kids' menu, before settling into Kandy for the evening.

Day 2
Millennium Elephant Foundation

Walk alongside rescued elephants, help with feeding and bathing, then head to Kuragala Drum Village where kids paint their own drum to take home, capped off with a traditional Kandy cultural show.

Day 3
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Tour a working tea estate with a family tea-plucking challenge, then row paddle boats across Gregory Lake as the afternoon winds down in the cool hill country.

Day 4
Nuwara Eliya – Ella

More time at Gregory Lake before boarding one of the world's most scenic train rides to Ella — a ride the kids will love and the views the whole family will remember.

Day 5
Ella

Tuk Tuk to the Nine Arches Bridge to watch a train cross the viaduct, then join a kids' cooking demonstration at a pool club before relaxing in the infinity pool.

Day 6
Yala National Park

Stop at Ravana Waterfalls en route to Yala, then set off on an exciting jeep safari through one of Sri Lanka's top wildlife parks, famous for its leopards.

Day 7
Yala Local Living Experiences

Join a local school for songs and drawing, tour the village by tractor, play traditional Avurudu games and try sweet-making, then pass Coconut Tree Hill and the stilt fishermen en route to the coast.

Day 8
Yala – Hikkaduwa

Visit a turtle hatchery to learn how conservationists protect sea turtles and their eggs, then spend the evening watching the sunset from Hikkaduwa's Turtle Beach.

Day 9
To the Maldives

Stop for lunch among the mangroves and take a boat trip through the tranquil waterways, before flying onward to the Maldives to begin the second half of the adventure.

Day 10
Welcome to the Maldives

Wake up on a private island resort and spend the day exploring the grounds and settling into everything the resort has to offer.

Day 11
The Maldives

Explore the island, try the resort's activities, and let the kids join the dedicated kids club while the whole family relaxes and dines around the resort.

Day 12
The Maldives

One more morning to soak up the island — explore, use the resort facilities, and let the kids club keep them busy before the trip winds down.

Is this trip suitable for young children?

Yes! The itinerary is built around families, with shorter travel days, a kids' menu at meals, a dedicated Maldives kids club, and hands-on activities like drum painting and turtle watching designed to keep children engaged and safe.

How safe is this trip for families?

Very. You'll travel with an English-speaking local guide and a Maltese Trip Manager throughout, and every activity — from the elephant encounter to the jeep safari — is run by experienced local operators.

Do we need any vaccinations for Sri Lanka or the Maldives?

No vaccinations are mandatory, but it's worth keeping routine vaccines up to date and checking with your doctor before you travel, especially for younger children.

Is the pace too intense for kids?

Not at all. Sightseeing is balanced with pool time, beach days and three relaxed nights in the Maldives at the end, so there's plenty of downtime built in alongside the adventure.

What if my child is a fussy eater?

Meals are family-friendly throughout, with a customised kids' menu offered on day one and half-board dining at most hotels, so there's always something familiar on the table.

What's included in the price?

Flights, all land transfers, accommodation, an English-speaking guide, a Maltese Trip Manager, and the meals and experiences listed in the itinerary are all included — just add travel insurance and any optional extras.
